Can the VP8870 run on external power only? I've tried removing the battery and plugging in a 5V 2A center-positive power adaptor into the coax power socket, as well as an 840mA USB charger into the mini USB socket.
Neither socket lets me power the unit without a battery. The USB socket will charge the battery, but won't run the unit. If I run the unit while charging the battery (red charging light is on), it seems to shut off after a while for some reason. I left it to record about an hour of video and when I came back, the VP8870 was turned off, and the battery was low. Do I need more power? The coax power socket doesn't seem to do anything at all for me. It doesn't charge or power the unit.

Dear eug ,
A : For this case, We recommend plug AC power DC5V/2.5A adapter to VP8870 while VP8870 is fully working on removing the battery. Because the current is about 1A. Service Center Vosonic Technology Corp. TEL/+886-3-5557745 ext .110/104/108 Mail :
